We’re delighted to share that XEIAD, specialist engineering inspection consultancy with expertise in specialist access, has now joined the British Engineering Services Group.

The XEIAD team is made up of more than 200 people all working across a number of sectors including transportation, utilities, renewables and many, many more, inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels and shafts.  Their engineers are skilled and experienced in rope access, diving and confined spaces and complete a huge range of Inspections, Assessments, Surveys, Non-Destructive Testing & Intrusive Investigations, Design and Project Management, helping make sure their customers leave nothing to chance.

This is the eighth company we’ve added to the British Engineering Services Group since 2019 and the third this year.  XEIAD is a great fit for our Group and will enhance our industry leading suite of risk management services and grow our fantastic team of specialists.

Paul Capener, XEIAD Managing Director, will continue to lead the team, who are spread across offices in Devon, York, Swindon and Derby and at customer locations all over the UK.

Our customers and our people come before everything else across the British Engineering Services Group and that will never change.  Our ongoing activity on the acquisition front ensures we are giving our customers a growing range of services, in line with their needs.  From strengthening our geographical spread to adding new specialist services to our skillset, we couldn’t be happier with our recent acquisitions.

To enhance this even further, we are delighted to share that we have welcomed Boyd Brothers to the British Engineering Services Group.  This is another great move for both our company and theirs and we’re extremely excited to have them onboard.

Boyd Brothers is a family founded and operated business with more than 50 years’ experience in electrical and civil engineering projects.  The team is made up of 40 of the very best people, all experts in their industry, with a Head Office located in Livingston, Scotland.  Not only will this enhance our electrical proposition, including Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging installations, it will make even more specialist services easily available to our customers.

“This is another great addition to the British Engineering Services Group.  We’ve spent lots of time with the Boyd Brothers team over recent months and it’s very clear they share the same values and priorities as the wider Group.  Not only do they always put their customer first, but they’re very focused on making sure nothing is left to chance.  This will further enhance our presence in the electrical safety field, which we started to develop further with the acquisition of Lantei in December 2020,” said Paul Trivett, MD of Electrical and Consultancy at the British Engineering Services Group.

This is the sixth acquisition for the British Engineering Services Group since 2019.  Our complete team now stands at more than 850 of the very best people with more joining us all the time.  Growth by acquisition continues to be high on our agenda and we’re looking forward to announcing even more activity on this front throughout the rest of the year.

We’re excited to welcome James Reeves to the British Engineering Services group as Group Chief Financial Officer.

James comes to us from international insurance company, Liberty Specialty Markets, where he spent more than seven years in senior roles, including his most recent position as Deputy Chief Financial Officer.  He is both extremely experienced in our sector and has been heavily involved in Liberty’s strategic activity including their significant organic and acquisition driven growth.  We know this will be beneficial in helping us deliver our plans for 2022 and beyond as we continue to grow our Group.

Before joining Liberty, James spent six years with RSA Insurance where he first developed his understanding of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry. During this time, he was instrumental in helping expand their European offering, positioning businesses for profit and implementing a new financial control framework.

On top of his day-to-day CFO role, James has also joined our Executive Team.  He will be involved in helping shape the future of our company as we continue to position ourselves for a brilliant future.

“We are delighted to have James on the team.  His experience and skillset speak for themselves, and this combined with his customer focus, extensive experience working with brokers and his energy and enthusiasm makes him a great fit for our business,” said Stewart Kay, Group CEO.

Huge congratulations to Nigel Black, General Manager for UK RTI, who recently attended his Investiture Ceremony at Windsor Castle almost two years after being awarded his MBE.

We couldn’t be prouder of Nigel, who was on the Queen’s Honours list at the beginning of 2020 for his services to the military.

Nigel joined UK RTI, part of the British Engineering Services Group, in 2019 from the Army where he served 36 years as a Warrant Officer Class 1 in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.  Not only is he a valuable member of our team, but he is a passionate and dedicated leader and we we’re delighted to see his services recognised in this way – a real honour for someone truly deserving!

Helping make sure our customers leave nothing to chance is our priority across the British Engineering Services Group.  We’re delighted to have welcomed a number of new businesses to our company over the last few months, making sure we can always do exactly that as we continue to grow and partner with more and more organisations.  We’re focused on helping keep people safe, businesses legally compliant and machinery and equipment operational and that will never change. 

We’re extremely pleased to share that Proviso Systems, condition-based maintenance (CBM) expert, is the latest company to join the Group.  Adding Proviso Systems to our growing business will really enhance our customer offering in this specialist field, further strengthening the platform we built with the acquisition of PCMS Eng Group at the end of last year. 

“Our customers are really benefiting from an extended suite of services and bringing Proviso onboard will reinforce this even further.  Our acquisitive growth continues to be in line with our customers’ needs and we know maximising machinery efficiency with the very best CBM solutions is something there is an appetite for.  With PCMS Eng Group and Proviso Systems now part of the Group, we can truly provide our customers with an end-to-end risk management service in one place, a first in our industry,” said Gareth Hilton, Chief Commercial Officer. 

Proviso Systems was formed in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength ever since.  Its ongoing focus has been to provide an ‘innovative approach to condition-based maintenance’ and ultimately improve operational efficiency for their customers.  Their innovative approach to technology is impressive and has undoubtedly given them a competitive edge in their field.  They provide an extensive range of services to help keep their customers machinery healthy and operational with  vibration analysis, thermography and oil analysis just some of the more frequently used techniques. 

“We’re really getting it right on the acquisition front.  We’ve welcomed some fantastic businesses to our Group over the last few months alone and bringing Proviso onboard has undoubtedly continued this trend.  The team are absolutely brilliant and know everything there is to know about CBM.  They’re a great addition to the British Engineering Services Group and we look forward to supporting their ongoing success,” said Dave Vaughan, MD of Testing and Consultancy. 

“The future of Proviso Systems is extremely exciting.  This is a great move all round and one that will see our specialist business get the right level of investment and focus as we continue to grow.  We’re all really looking forward to our next chapter,” said Mike Deakin, Director of Proviso Systems. 

This is the fifth acquisition for the British Engineering Services Group since 2019 and the second condition-based maintenance company welcomed in just a matter of months.  Continuing to find businesses that have the same passion and approach to supporting our customers is important to us and we’re delighted to have done that with every one of our acquisitions.  We’re proud of our growing team who help us deliver for our customers every day, with no compromise, ever.
